Ticking
As part of the course “Audiovisual Design,” the assignment was to systematically analyze a musical sequence and translate it into a multi-layered, visually consistent animation. Our group chose the piece “Ticking” because its strong variety and clear associations made it especially suitable for this task. The aim was to precisely translate musical structures, dynamics, and instrumentation into a visual vocabulary, approaching the project both analytically and creatively.

Analysis
A mood board and a word cloud helped us capture the key terms and visual impressions. Detailed audio track analysis and our own notations enabled us to precisely identify the structure and entries of the instruments-an essential foundation for the subsequent animation.
Reflection
This project demonstrates how essential it is to combine analytical methods with creative form-finding for a successful audiovisual translation. With patience, precision, and a lot of hands-on work, we managed to transform the music sequence into an independent visual experience.
